For when the first one is being laundered. We have an old little 14lb dog that was sick, and occasionally vomit on the bed. So, this is absolutely necessary to have. But when we were having to strip the bed every other night, this extra one was a god send!Covers nice. Protects enough. And the price is good for what it is. No spills as of yet so can’t honestly comment on the waterproof. But will update if it works or doesn’t.FITS GREAT (QUEEN SIZE), IT HAS A SOFT CLOTH THAT KEEPS FITTED SHEETS FROM PULLING OUT AT THE CORNERS. NOT SURE ABOUT THE WATERPROOF ABILITY, HAVEN'T TRIED THAT YET AND THE UNDERSIDE SEEMS TO BE A TIGHT THREADED MATERIAL. PREVIOUS BRANDS HAVE NOT BEEN AS COMFORTABLE, BUT HAD A SOFT PLASTIC UNDERSIDE.I am happy with my purchase.
