I've always disliked sleeping on a bed that had rails underneath the bed springs. That's how they did it in the '70s and '80s and as a child I wasn't heavy enough to go through the railing. As an adult that's a whole other story. All the bed frames now say that it's okay to put a mattress on top of the slats but gravity says your body is going to push that mattress right through the slats. But here's the thing. I'm not on a bed frame anymore. I put a new box spring (not from Amazon) on the floor in the middle of my sleigh bed frame. And then I put an Amazon mattress on top. I have to be on the floor because I have a bad spine and I'm dealing with spinal stenosis. I can't take a chance of being on those slats underneath a mattress. But guess what? I can still feel the springs of the box spring underneath me even though I'm on the floor. So I decided I needed this bunkie board. Since I'm on the floor I didn't know if I should get a vertical one or a horizontal one. And then I went back to my first point of never wanting to sleep on slats again. If I only get horizontal that will happen eventually. Since I can only afford one at a time I went ahead and got horizontal this month and next month I will order the vertical one. It is so easy to just take out of the box and roll across the top of my box springs. It's HEAVY though! I cannot believe I dragged it through the house with my bad back, but I had to and I did it. It has made a world of difference already in my sagging mattress and being able to feel the box spring sticking up through the mattress. It gives me great support and I know once I get the vertical one also, I will feel even more supported. It's a good design in that the slats are enclosed in some cloth so it won't snag anything. It fits inside of the frame of my sleigh bed perfectly and goes on top of the box springs perfectly. This has literally saved my back. When I can afford the vertical one and a new mattress I think I will be sleeping in heaven. Good choice! I think it's a smart answer and value!
